Partial lockdown in Singapore extended until June 1

Singapore (Agency): Partial lockdown in Singapore has been extended until June 1 by adding four weeks.

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong in a nationally televised address to the nation said the lockdown restrictions will be continued until May 4 and four additional weeks are extended for the lockdown to contain the COVID-19 by evaluating the ongoing crisis.

Loong also added that the some of the restrictions imposed during the lockdown will be eased if the number of community infected cases dwindle.

“Although the lockdown has adversely affected the working groups and business, it will support in getting victory over the invisible enemy and prevent the people from being infected by the global epidemic,” said Loong.

Singapore reported 11 deaths and over 9000 people are infected with the deadly contagion. Singapore has shutdown all services including schools and colleges barring the food supplies.
